CD Reviews

Great Collection - Great Price
Utah Blaine | Somewhere on Trexalon in District 268 | 10/08/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If you already know who Chris Ledoux is and already own several of his albums, this review isn't for you, you are probably already aware that Chris Ledoux was the greatest American singer, EVER, in ANY genre. There isn't a remotely close second. If you have never heard of Chris Ledoux and stumbled on this web page, this review is for you, and you are in for quite a treat. Chris Ledoux was a singer of cowboy music, not country music, not western music, but cowboy music, who sadly passed away in 2005 from cancer. His songs epitomized the American spirit, and I could never quite fathom why he never became a national superstar. His music is far, far better than the vast majority of crap being foisted on us by Nashville these days. He sings about life, about relationships, about work, about family, in short he only sings about things that matter. The music, the lyrics, everything is wonderful. His songs and his music is timeless and spans all genres. Even if you HATE country and/or western music, you will love Chris Ledoux. I've gotten several of my European friends hooked on CL!!! You can listen to his albums over and over and over again and they never get old. This collection, released in 1994, would be an ideal first album for someone new to Chris Ledoux. It contains many of his best songs, and if you are going to like CL, you are going to like this album. This price is great (currently $8 from Amazon). I agree with some of the negative reviews that the recording industry is really taking advantage of CL's legacy by re-releasing repackaged old collections. This isn't really a big problem though unless you feel that you need to own every album. I don't care how modest your budget is, you can afford $8 to buy this album, believe me you won't regret it. It may literally be a life-changing purchase."
