Album Description 2004 album from the acclaimed British singer/guitarist, the follow-up to his hugely successful Dancing Down The Stoney Road (2002), Although Rea scored a top 20 hit in the U.S. with 'Fool (If You Think It's Over)' in 1978 and has recorded many critically successful albums, much of his best material remains deleted or unreleased in the U.S. Like many artists of his caliber, he's held in great esteem and remains a top selling artist all over Europe. Because of his huge fanbase, he has continued to concentrate on that region instead of trying to break the American market. Fortunately, there are still plenty of American fans who are devoted to the man and his music. He is the new meaning to the blues. After his surprise masterpiece double album, "Dancing down the stony road", he is here to tell us that he wants to "Paint his jukebox blue". The album is the continuation of his Stony Road CD with the addition of some excellent Saxophones. Rea plays less guitar but properly and magically. The voice is still the king and the music is a nice accompany for lonely nights. The best cuts in my opinion are: Long is the time, hard is the road; Paint my jukebox blue and Steel river Blues. Beutiful arrangement, Jazzy bluesy mood (reflective of his JazzeeBlue label) and masterful musicianship makes The Blue Jukebox a pioneer effort in Rea's resume. The howling bluesman is born.
