CD Reviews

Christian Boule - 'Non-Fiction' (Musea) - French import CD
Mike Reed | USA | 05/14/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"If you don't recognize the name, Christian Boule has worked with Clearlight on a few lp's and has been on several Steve Hillage efforts like 'Fish Rising', 'Live Herald' and 'Deeply Vale,1978'. Best way one could describe Boule's music is, I guess French progressive or art rock. Either way, 'Non-Fiction' is a worthy pick. Dug almost every track on this solo release. Tunes that sort of had me sit up and take notice was the title cut "Non-Fiction", "Psychedelik" (that's their way of spelling it), the wailing "Magic Fanfare", the pop-like "L.I.F.E." (good female vocals) and the CD's two Gong sound-alikes "Glissader Aquarian" and "Synthetic Lover" (possibly disc's best song). Line-up: Christian Boule-guitar,keyboards & vocals, Patrice Conjas-bass, Jean-Pierre Thirault-sax, Xavier Baullereret-guitar, Jacky Bouladoux-percussion, Geraldine Andre-vocals, Yves Lannes-keys&clarinet and Tim Blake-keyboards. Comes with 12-page informative booklet printed in both French and English. A should-have."
