Is That all there is?

"To be honest, this cd is probably my least favorite Fennesz recording. I have all of them and for some reason, I thought this was going to be as exciting as the Live In Japan vinyl only album released this year, which is brilliant. This is not. It only clocks in at 16 minutes 35 seconds and most annoying are the graphics or lack of. You get a plain white card sleeve with a black & white sticker affixed to it. There is no cd label and I had to look hard to see if this was not a cdr, it is not, though. The only other thing is a black & white slip listing the other recent Touch releases. To say the least, for a label that prides itself on excellent graphics, this is laughable. I would have preferred if Touch waited to release this with some more music to make it a full length cd with some proper artwork. As far as the music goes, it's pretty uneventful for Fennesz and non-melodic and without any power to hold you in its grip like 'Venice' or 'Cendre' or 'Live At The Lu' with Keith Rowe certainly do until it's almost over and then you basically say to yourself, "Is that all there is?" Most disappointing to a Fennesz afficionado, but may satisfy the casual listener of laptop electronica."
