Truly Definitive

"This superb digitally remastered CD contains nineteen songs, at least seven of which were top hits. Ride Like The Wind, All Right, Say You'll Be Mine, Sailing, Never Be The Same, Arthur's Theme, and Think of Laura are all included. The other tracks are great also, reminding us of Cross' unique gifts as song-writer and stylist in today's crowded field of manufactured, mediocre talent. Cross alone penned most of his hits but he sometimes collaborated with songwriting legends such as Burt Bacharach, Carol Bayer Sager, and John Bettis. Such associations serve as testimony to the respect Cross commanded in the industry.
The liner notes detail his rise to fame: 'Four years... eight hit singles, several world tours, five Grammys, and one Oscar later, Christopher rested...only to be usurped by that music merchandiser's dream, that music purist's nightmare...the music video, self-invented media darlings..no amount of quick cuts, exotic locations...could disguise the fact that on the outside Christopher Cross was just a regular guy...' Regular? Maybe. But his music is still powerful and soaring."
Another Greatest Hits Ripoff

"This is yet another Greatest Hits Ripoff. At least 3 of the "HIT" songs are NOT presented in the original HIT length versions, but in EDITED (shortened) versions, so you're only getting maybe 75% of the music. The edits are good so you may not even notice them, but nevertheless, check the song times against their original versions and you'll see that if you're interested in getting the true hits, they're NOT on this album. It's much better to get the original Christopher Cross album, as well as the other original albums the songs appeared on. If you're like me, and only wanted "Arthur's Theme," then you'll be okay as it IS the original length, though, but not "Never Be The Same," nor "Ride Like The Wind" and others. "Definitive" is a downright lie. "Underhanded" is more like it."
