"Christopher Young has done it again with the sequel score for Grudge 2. It is big improvement over the original which was too string reliant and emulated Penderecki's Kanon for 52 Orchestra and Tape. This time Young utilizes asian woodwinds to capture the japanese origins of the tale. This was one of the opportunities that was missed during the first film's scoring duties. Also I must give credit to the late film scoring legend Jerry Goldsmith who has a big influence on Chris Young's work. Chris' use of the piano for the main theme evokes memories of The Omen. This is a truly terrifying score and an excellent addition to Young's impressive career.
