Chuck negron--JOY TO THE WORLD-a Christmas must have

"Chuck Negron, the voice of Three Dog Night, has treated us with one of the finest Christmas albums I own--it is a "must have" for those who love seasonal music and who wax nostalgic for the soulful voice who brought us Joy To The World--the second version. In this CD Chuck brings us Joy to the World again, putting his spin on both the tradional and "new" versions--all in one cut! It is amazing. And his rendering of "When You Wish Upon a Star" gives one goosebumps. Even though this song is not thought of as a traditional Christmas song, Chuck makes it into one. This CD is hard to find but it is well worth any effort it takes. Every cut is incredible. Welcome home Chuck--we have missed you. The Christmas season is even better now because you are in it."
Chuck's Best Album - With or Without Three Dog Night

"Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing Chuck Negron about his post-Three Dog Night career. Chuck referred to this as the best album he has ever done and I have to agree. Chuck's voice sounds incredible throughout and he is ably supported by great musicians like George Duke and Gerald Albright, the Salt Lake Children's Choir and the Nashville String Machine.
Every track is a standout, with my particular favorites being "Joy To The World" (featuring an arrangement by Chuck that effectively melds the traditional hymn with the Three Dog Night hit of the same name) and one of the first versions of the now classic "Grown Up Christmas List." Add this cd to your collection right away! It ranks among the best modern holiday albums, along with the Phil Spector Christmas and the first Very Special Christmas.

Stunningly Overproduced

"With the voice of an angel that Chuck has as his gift, one cannot imagine why he would choose smaltzy techno-pop crap for his accompaniment. Chuck needs background music, not something to outshine and overpower the honesty and passion that is his rtademark. I had shivers down my spine as he wound his way around the lyrics on the first track; by the time the second began I hoped it was an aberration; after that I had a hard time forcing myself to give it a chance.
Accepting this hamburger instead of steak (to paraphrase Chuck in his book) by any true fan demeans the body of his work - which is stellar!"
Bought this for my mom.........twice.

"I grew up in the late 60s and early 70s and became a musician. My Mom loved what we played and she had two favorites, The Beatles and Three Dog Night. Later she said she believed she liked the singer of Easy to be Hard more than Paul McCartney. I first bought her this album a number of years ago, her car and the CD were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, and I bought it for her again last year. She turns 80 Jan. 5th of next year and this Christmas she will continue to enjoy this album. From me..........C.N. is still one of the best singers around."
