Synopsis

Product Description
Anyone who's been to a Chumbawamba show recently will testify to the importance and relevance of releasing this live album. The band engages and plays off the audience by approaching radical music from a warm and communal standpoint. Aware that so many bands just get on stage and play, refusing to interact with the audience, Chumbawamba are determined to make gigs inclusive, not alienating. Get On With It is pop, folk, a cappella, politics, humor, four-part harmony and five-part anger. It contains sing-alongs and hymns, throwaways and big choruses, old favorites, covers and unreleased songs, including two tracks only available on this North American release.

Amazing Live "Folk" Album
Daniel Fedorenko | Oakland, CA United States | 06/18/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Alright folks, what we have here is a live CD from one of the preeminent folk groups of today. I almost hate to use the term "folk group" because after A Mighty Wind (great film though it was) it conjures up images of well-scrubbed, nicey-nice, well-intentioned, anachronistic boys and girls. Though I'm sure Chumbawamba's hygiene is impeccable that is where the comparison should end. Their roots as one of the leading anarcho-punk bands lends their current songs and under-lying element of angry indignation and biting wit. Though they are completely capable of performing an emotionally touching ballad ("By & By") as well as poignantly humorous songs ("Hard Times of Old England"). But whether they are doing traditional songs that are a couple hundred years old or their own recently penned ones, be they humorous, sad, triumphant or mad, there is always an air of sincerity and genuineness that makes it impossible not to like this group. This disc has fantastic sound quality for a live recording. The instruments ring out while the voices are clean and crisp. Chumbawamba have worked long and hard to attain their seemingly effortless voice-blending and pinpoint harmonies (often in 3 and 4 parts). Okay, that's enough praise heaped upon these lads and lasses by yours truly. Now, go out and see for yourself."
