"My girlfriend recently gave me this CD for my birthday. The card read: "Sometimes I have feelings that I can't put into words, and sometimes I wish you knew the depth of those feelings I can't seem to express. Maybe you'll find the words that escape me in this CD." Cindy Alexander is a modern poet and someone I wish I knew so that we could just hang out, cuz she has a great sense of humor. She saves me from boredom on my long commute to work, and yes, she has probably also saved my relationship. Time Falling Down and I See Stars are slam dunk ballads, and Sick of Myself is my new theme song. This is a CD that is good from beginning to end. I don't feel the need to press "skip," however, I do hit the replay button for my favorites. If you like Shawn Colvin (her "Steady On" cd is in 2nd place to Cindy's "See Red"), you'll love Cindy Alexander. "See Red" was produced by David Darling, who also produced Meredith Brooks. There is some similarity between these two artists (cool loops, feisty guitars), but Cindy's voice shines above."
Addicting like Chocolate

"So I'm the type of gal that's been called obsessive/compulsive - I eat too much chocolate and I can't get Cindy Alexander's CD out of my CD changer. Her songs run through my head daily and I'm known to quote her lyrics to my shrink. But my problems aside, any sane (or insane) person will love her music. I discovered Cindy on tour with the Bacon Brothers and after hearing "Better than I Am," I HAD to buy "See Red." Her melodies are catchy, the grooves are booty shaking, the ballads bring tears to my eyes, and her voice is gorgeous. No two songs on this CD are alike - and to listen from beginning to end is a trip in itself. It's hard to believe that the same girl who sings "I See Stars" so sweetly can belt it out like a siren in "I'm OK." I can't wait for her next musical ride."

"Wow. I just took an emotional roller coaster ride... in other words, I listened to "See Red" and laughed, cried and walked out of my house singing Cindy songs and wanting to be, in her words, "better than I am." A little bit Sheryl, a little bit Tori, but really very unique. Her voice is at once beautiful and brimming with personality, as multi-faceted as are the tunes on this record. Thanks for the recommendation Amazon. This CD is a keeper."

"I'm not a music reviewer and I don't want to pretend to be. But my ears know what they like, and they LOVE this CD!! It's romantic and bittersweet and a little crazy and a lot of fun to listen to. Sometimes at night, I listen to "I See Stars" or "City Astronaught" and the songs take me inside, and I think back over my past and the people I have loved. And when I need to get hyped up, I listen to "Sick of Myself"...and it does the job nicely! But "Better Than I Am" is my favorite--I'm always searching inside to figure out who I am and where I'm going..."Better Than I Am" speaks to this voice inside... I STRONGLY RECOMMEND this CD! Get it before your friends do so you can say you had it first."
Simply Beautiful

"One of the best singer/songwriters on the scene today, Cindy's debut album runs the gamut of lilting folky pop (Better than I Am, I See Stars) to funky adult-alterntive (I'm OK, Hey Hey), to modern rock (Dresden/ Sick of Myself) to should-be-hit ballad (Time Falling Down)to the almost country but more rockin' Americana (Joei). The interesting combination of acoustic guitars and drum loops by producer David Darling provides a modern back-drop to classic and intelligent songwriting, similar to Aimee Mann. Cindy's voice is distinctive, beautiful and soulful. If you are a collector of intelligent female pop, you won't want to miss this cd."
