Product DescriptionChanneling the urgency of 80s Brit/shoegaze but with an updated sense of production values and texture, The Meeting After The Meeting is the sophomore release from Greensboro, North Carolina-based quartet Citified. With a full band in tow for the first time on record, singer/songwriter/guitarist Chris Jackson, along with DM Franklin Kane (bass), Eric Ussery (drums), and Diego Diaz (guitar/keyboards), racked up some serious live experience leading into the recording of the 7-song collection, which is evident in the exemplary instrumentation and attention to detail shown throughout. The album was engineered by the highly revered Jerry Kee (Superchunk, Portastatic, Kingsbury Manx) at his Duck-Kee studio in Mebane, North Carolina. Touching on influences such as Red House Painters, R.E.M., Echo and the Bunnymen and The Cure, Citified is an audiophile s dream a band who bears repeated, careful listens revealing a divine craft for layered production. Fans of The National s Boxer will appreciate the textures and extraordinary warmth that The Meeting... exudes, but ultimately this is a release that stands on its own, and has the potential to hoist Citified to the next level amongst an already active and diverse music scene. From the melancholic, reflective "Weddings" and hypnotic, melodic drone of "Read Like a Number"; to the propulsive pulses of "Line the Streets" and culminating with the one two bliss of "March Through Mayday" and "Bled in an Ocean," Citified leaves listeners where they want to be, satisfied yet curiously craving more. The Meeting After the Meeting is a record of fragile strength and depth, and one of the best releases I've heard in recent memory. Sounding like an organic Depeche Mode, Citified is one of my favorite bands."-- J. Neas, J's Indie/Rock Mayhem - WQFS Greensboro
