The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem were a force of nature reinventing the impact of live performance on those 3 nights in Chicago. The Clancys and Makem are like a freight train rolling through the room in their power and precision, but they also deliver the dew on the rose petal in tender ballads. Patriotism, humor, life and death, satire, it's all here larger than life and knocking your socks off.

GREAT! - A must for Irish music fans
Music Man | 08/21/2004

"Please stock this item!! I came across this CD on Ebay. I loved it from the minute I stuck it in the player. It starts with a rousing rendition of "Irish Rover", and really gets the place going. "October Winds", a great duet by Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy, shows the groups versatility to go from rebel song to lullaby. "The Jolly Tinker" shows the humerous side of Irish music, and Liam sells it. Every song is a winner on this album, and may be the finest Live album the group recorded. The recording technique makes it sound like a rough and tumble pub recording on the backroads of Ireland, but it was actually recorded at the Gate of Horn nightclub in Chicago. A definite must have for serious fans. Good luck in finding it."

"Everything great about the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem is here.
From the hell-raising fury of "Courtin' in the Kitchen" to the heart-breaking beauty of the "October Winds" to the high-hilarity of "Mr. Moses Ri-Tooral-I-Ay" to the gut-wrenching "Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ye" and so on----these are the best performances of these songs. The ultimate live Irish folk album---seek this one out.
