"Clara is a wonder. Closely affiliated to the work of Mozart, Ms. Haskil shows a strong affinity for the work of Beethoven, Scarlatti and Schumann. As mentioned in the title, this is the most complete performance of her 1953 concert at Ludwigsburg. (The Stradivarius and Monodram recordings leave out a Prelude/Chorale by Bach-Busoni and two short but precious excerpts from Schumann.) All in all, this is a wonderful audio document from a musician who throughout her short pain-plagued life managed to leave behind a pure and creative moment for future audiences to savor."
