"If you love easy listening, you're gonna love this CD. Imagine eerily-giddy, yet sexy-breathy french-accented vocals backed by an immaculate pop orchestra... that's Claudine Longet. Claudine is considered to be a non-singer by many, however she has been a major influence to bands of all genres. Claudine's sounds echo in the music of Stereolab, Pizzicato 5, and Mono (especially with that cheesy harpsichord on "Life In Mono"), and many others. Cranes' vocalist Alison Shaw's breathy vocals are reminiscent of Claudine's but that's where the similarities end. Claudine doesn't rock but she sure does roll.Claudine's talent is in making the cover version of a song completely hers. So if you'd like to get to the source of easy listening, buy this now! Take my advice -- I'm not only a Claudine Longet expert, I'm probably the world's only Claudine Longet impersonator!"

Exellent Debut Album From Claudine

"This is the 1967 debut album for Claudine Longet. After having recorded a handful of singles in the prior years, most of those were collected and issued on this album. In fact, her recording of Mason Williams' "Wanderlove" (which was a big hit in Singapore in 1967) is on this album (yet oddly is omitted from any "hits" collections). Tommy LiPuma produced it (he also produced the first few Sandpipers albums), Nick DeCaro arranged and conducted it (he arranged and conducted many of Andy Williams' records) and was engineered by Bruce Botnick (who later worked with the Doors). So as one can imagine the arrangments, sound, and fidelity are excellent.I own the orginal stereo LP, and comparing the LP to the CD, the CD preserves the fidelity of the LP and sounds perhaps a tad more sharp. So all in all, it's worth the price...A&M Japan did a great job with the remastering (the only thing is, the liner notes are in Japanese).As a fan of Claudine's for many years, I like this album. But I don't recommend it as a starting point (for a new fan, try one of the "hits" packages). When you're ready for more, this is a good one to get."

Of course the Japanese issue is in Japanese

"The Japanese have done it again! Another great mastering job that puts all other issues to shame.



I read the previous review and started laughing about the liner notes being written in Japanese. What did the reviewer expect? German, Russian, Portuguese? By the way, the liner notes are in Japanese and English."
