CD Reviews

Very Nice Brazilian-tinged CD
Orion | NYC | 08/01/2005
(3 out of 5 stars)

"This is a solid release from Roditi, who plays well on all cuts and excellently on two -- IMHO. The rhythm section is capable and lays down a non-intrusive but supportive and intelligent background. This CD cuts across genres from hard bop to samba, with a stronger emphasis on a Brazilian "feel" than straight-ahead blowing."
2 times defective CD with wrong artist

"I like Claudio Roditi and I am sure that I would like this CD if I could actually get one with Claudio Roditi as the artist. The first one I received from Amazon had the wrong number of tracks and the wrong total time. The artist, and I use the term loosely, was some guy singing in French. Allowing WMP to search the web for the CD info resulted in the artist being Philemon Poycape. This was with user feedback data. I contacted Amazon and printed a return mailing label and they ordered a new CD, since they were out of stock. That was exactly 2 weeks ago. The replacement just arrived today and it is again the wrong CD. The CD case says that it is Double Standards and the CD label says Double Standards, but the CD is actually something else. The embossing on the back of the CD is 81172/2, but the CD number should be CD148. Apparently a large number have been mixed up, so I am just warning people to be careful if ordering this CD. Perhaps it is not fair to give a low rating because of a bad batch of CDs, but it is a reflection on the quality of the studio, Reservoir Music."
