Synopsis

Product Description
With the 2006 release of their debut CD, Lowercase Fire Engine, Cleanse brings to the table an avant pop style of elegant proportion. Down tempo and alternative for sure, Cleanse uses layered synths of old and new, dragging drums, and lonely lyrics to create a montage of sound and imagery. Ken Roberts and Mark Damian are Cleanse. After performing together in Detroit s award winning industrial band sweatysuedelips (Prone) following Roberts' departure from Charm Farm (Polygram/Mercury) and Control Freq (Warner Brothers), the two co-founded Cleanse. This new musical outlet may be just as self indulgent as it is intriguing for an audience seeking the alternative and embracing the art of song. The multi instrumentalists Roberts and Damian recorded most of the instrumentation themselves along with producing the new CD. Additional musicians were invited from the richly unique talent pool of Detroit including Michelle Carravallah (Killer Flamingos), Djeto Juncha (Braillehouse), Jessie Laney (Pilot Inspector), and Frank Pahl (Immigrant Suns). The result was a sound scape that has been described by listeners as delicate, lonely, and cinematic. With assistance from Damian and long time writing partner Charles Colin the songs on Lowercase Fire Engine were penned by Roberts as a tribute to the classic tale of ''Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy writes an album about it''.
