I really enjoyed the tracks by Lily Allen, the Ting Tings, Erin McCarley and Tristan Prettyman. Classic songs by Wilco, REM, The Replacements and The Talking Heads were welcome but I could go my entire life without hearing "Friday I'm in Love" or "Don't You Want Me" again. The rest of the songs were okay, except Scarlet Johansson's "Last Goodbye" which sounded very weak compared to the other talented female singers on this CD. Maybe it makes sense in the movie. The ensemble of singers to the likes of Human League, R.E.M, Cure, Talking Heads etc brings a host of talent together for you to sample in one classic disc. The additional soundtrack by Scarlett Johansson (Last Goodbye) is an extra treat since it is not featured in the movie itself. My favorites were "Don't you want me" (Human League) and "I'd Like To" (Corinne Bailey Rae) but the entire soundtrack was totally listenable. Since I decided to give the music a listen in the car, it surprised me to hear my 3 year old (whose idea of music only extend to kiddie tunes) scream out "Put it louder mama". And indeed I did."
