CD ReviewsA Nice Album.. Forrest Wildwood | The house with the narrow gate | 09/13/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "Peter Kingsbery and Anna LaCazio combined on this 80's album to create some really nice sounds. Their duets work very well..nice passion in their vocals. The songs here are all very well written with nice harmony...nothing discording. I'm not sure how well this album sold in the U.S. but Cock Robin was one of the bright sounds that came out of the 80's. After all these years, I still give this album a listen..it is that good. There are several songs that did get play time...'Just Around the Corner' and 'After Here Through Midland', but the others are just as deserving. Well worth seeking out and adding to any music collection." Cock Robin Desreves a Larger Audience Paul Weiss Jr. | Louisiana | 06/10/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "I stumbled on the first Cock Robin album when a friend let me hear the single "The Promise You Made". The next day I went to look for the album and purchased it for $1.99 in the discount bin. It was one of the best $2 I've ever spent. In 1987 I discovered "After Here Through Midland" and purchased it cold- not having heard a song from it. This is one of the best albums I've ever owned and was one of the first CD's I ever purchased. I still listen to it regularly, sometimes 3 or 4 times in succession before moving on to something else. It's so hard to pick favorite songs from this album but I'll say that "Cowards Courage", "Just Around The Corner", "Precious Dreams", "Biggest Fool Of All", and "I'll Send Them Your Way" would be my immediate favorites. But truth be told there's not a song on this CD that isn't worthy of the highest praise. Peter and Anna work so well together complimenting each other on every verse and rhyme. 20 years later I still know all the lyrics and every musical nuance of this perfect set. I only wish that more people could have appreciated this group back in the mid to late 80's. Their follow-up album "First Love-Last Rites" didn't disappoint either.
Buy it-- you won't regret it. Then look for their videos on You-Tube. I was shocked at how many there are." |
