**7.4 ON PITCHFORK** "The friendliest art band to ever walk the face of the Earth...loved the language of music & followed their impulses."-Harp Three CD box set includes material from their entire oeuvre including many studio songs that never found a place on an album, like the incredible, jazzy ÒSkeleton BonesÓ with Robert from QUINTRON and MATH. Many much-requested tracks from their first two vinyl albums, ÒHip Hip HoorayÓ and ÒHere Now TodayÓ that were not included on ÒThe Early Hi-Ball Years.Ó Songs from their singles on Hi-Ball, Telstar, SOL, and Insipid Vinyl, including their live favorite, ÒPenguin/PowerhouseÓ Raymond Scott medley, their version of the ÒDevo Corporate Anthem,Ó and their cover of the garage rock nugget ÒWhyÓ used to close their live sets. The entire Hello Records EP, which held some of their most alluring work, previously only available to subscribers of the short-lived service from They Might Be Giants. 56 songs over 3.2 hours, all lovingly remastered, almost all from original source tapes! 52pp perfect bound book full of liners & memorabilia wrapped in eye-popping popcorn box!

CD Reviews

Career Spanning and Still Surprising!
Edward J. Whitelock | Barnesville, GA USA | 07/23/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I've had all the Coctails cds for nearly ten years now and almost fell over when I discovered this box set. They've all gone on to other things, so to find this treasure trove of rarities and favorites is a treat. 3 discs that each capture the many moods of this underrated, underappreciated Chicago band: disc one captures their beautiful melancholy (and features their rare Hello cd ep complete); disc two captures their pop whimsy; disc three captures their free jazz experimentation. The thing that's so amazing is this generous set ADDS to their previous releases more than it revisits them. Take a chance on them if you like adventure and beauty."
