Synopsis

Album Description
The Cocteau Twins' first release following their exodus from the 4AD stable, Four-Calendar Cafe is also, tellingly, their most earthbound effort; as with Heaven or Las Vegas, the emphasis here is on substance as much as style - 'Evangeline', 'Bluebeard' and 'Know Who You Are at Every Age' continue the trio's advance into more accessible melodic and lyrical ground without sacrificing even an ounce of their trademark ethereality. Out-of-print domestically. Universal.

"THIS WAS A GOOD CHOICE ON MY PART. I HAD HEARD THIS CD YEARS AGO AND IT STAYED IN MY MIND FOR SEVERAL YEARS SO, I DECIDED TO PROCEED. HAVING THROUGHLY ENJOYED LEAVING LAS VEGAS, THIS CD WILL ENSURE THAT MY COCTEAU TWINS COLLECTION WILL GROW. ITS GOOD OLE ENGLISH MELODIC DREAM POP. THIS MUSIC IS SOMETHING FAB 4 DISCIPLES WOULD ENJOY!"

"This has to be one of the prettiest albums I have ever heard. A friend introduced me to it many years back and I never forgot that title, knowing it had to become part of my collection one day. For one who finds that the instrumental is often far more significant than the vocals, this is a soaring and dipping combination of ethereal and soul searching pleasures. I never tire of it."
