CD Reviews

Spectacular songwriting
Robert B. Hollowood | Las Vegas, NV United States | 04/20/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Colin Hay returns with this acoustic affair which combines newly written songs with a smattering newly recorded versions of songs from throughout his career. Colin is, as always, a charismatic performer with intelligent, inspired songwriting. Though many songs on this release have appeared elsewhere, some, such as "Waiting for My Real Life to Begin" and "Beautiful World" are rendered here in what I would consider to be their essential versions. If you haven't checked in with Colin Hay since his Men at Work days, this is a great place to start. Four of the songs from this release have appeared in NBC's Scrubs over the last two seasons; Beautiful World, Overkill, My Brilliant Feat, and Waiting for My Real Life to Begin will be familiar to viewers of the series."
Colin Hay, a master.

"WOW.a truly unforgettable album, from start to finish. The gentle strumming of hay as he meanders through a stream of consciousness we ALL share, combined with his uniwue voice, and the gentle, self affacing humor that has made him a truly enduring artist. This album changed my life, and it will change yours, too."

"I also have Colin's acoustic solo "Peaks & Valleys" which is great, but "Going Somewhere" is absolutely brilliant! If anyone's into just the singer/songwriter with nothing but the single acoustic guitar, then this is a required bit of listening. It just doesn't get much better than this. I'll definately keep an eye out for more of Colin Hay's solo work."
