A good retrospective, for new listeners and fans alike

"This French band first caught my eye in 1994 with their album "Viler Aux Vents". I admit I bought it for the cover art alone at the time, but was pleasantly suprised to hear a very unique sound. The comparisons to Dead Can Dance are inescapable, but CDA have progressed from a more muted classical sound to a more raw guitar-driven one, which contrasts with the progression that DCD has taken. Tracks from all their previous albums are present here, and it's a pretty good mix. The first cd has some of their newer material (from Viller Aux Vents and Cirses des Champs) while the second CD features tracks from Les Marronniers and Au Val des Roses, and Un Automne Au Loroy. You might also hear similarities in the music of the Cocteau Twins, Siouxsie, Sisters of Mercy, and Clan of Xymox. A very good album all in all, but it might make you want to get the CDA back catalogue, which can get pricey."
