CD Reviews
Colors explode!

"The pianism on this CD is completely over the top! One cannot imagine more thrilling performances of Schumann and Liszt.'Funerailles' is without doubt the greatest and most moving interpretation I've ever heard. The 'Mephisto Waltz' is hair-rasising in its excitement and brilliance. One can almost see each of the characters in the 'Carnaval', and the Fantasie was breathtaking. You would need to go back to the time of Rubenstein and Horowitz to hear the kind of pianism Mr. Pollack exhibits in these works. A must buy."
Superb Pianism Invokes Swirl of Colorful Emotions

"I just heard this new release online, purchased the CD and have been so moved after listening to it on repeat for the past few days that I decided to write this, my first amazon.com review.
Colors is brilliantly performed by Daniel Pollack, but most importantly it captures the wild range of emotions of both Schumann and Liszt. The Carnaval is amazing in the many moods Pollack portrays, moving from virtuosity and playfulness to infinitely intimate portraits. The Funerailles starts with a brooding mood, dark in color, that gives a sense of foreboding. The octave section toward the end of this work depicts the "funeral" march itself and becomes a driving force that leaves the listener breathless. In the Fantasie that follows, Pollack engages the listener in a swirl of emotions - a whole life unto itself. In Pollack's hands, the Mephisto Waltz actually becomes a devilish interplay between Satan and the one who resists the devil. The pianism is superb."
Daniel Pollack's "Colors" etal., etal., etal.

"I own every recording Daniel Pollack has made. For shorter works and unparalleled, grand style romantic playing, "First Kiss" and "Passionate Kiss"---there are no equals. His "Moscow Legendary..." is electrifying pianism of a younger Pollack - exciting beyond belief! The 2007, "Colors" brings us full circle to the Daniel Pollack who never ceases to bring the listener new insights, colors, nuances, shadings, eloquence no matter how often the listener has heard these works. I heard voices in the "Carnaval" I never knew existed! THE pianist of our time - beloved and cherished by many for so many years. May his voice always be heard!"
The Epitomy of Grand Romantic Pianism

"This is a phenomenal CD! From the drama and intimacy of the two Schumann pieces to the electric wizardry of the Liszt Funerailles and Mephisto Waltz, Pollack's performances represent the epitomy of grand romantic pianism. I highly recommend it, even if, like me, you already own multiple recordings of these beautiful works."
