Good Choice!

"Let's Dance Volumes 1-6 are all good choices for ballroom dancing enthusiasts or instrumental music listeners. I went to a ballroom dancing school that used this music almost exclusively, because it is of high quality, it stays close to strict tempo, and it uses popular songs. Unlike some other ballroom music collections whose songs all sound alike, this one is not boring and numbingly dull. The Latin tunes have authentic-sounding instruments and rhythms, and the smooth tunes (foxtrot, waltz, tango, etc.) have a nice full sound. These CDs should definitely please anyone with an interest in this type of music."
No angry tangos?

"Coumbia Ballroom Orchestra albums will make an inexpensive foundation for your new or growing collection of ballroom dance music. This is full orchestra dance music and the strings often carry the melody line. The cover lists the appropriate dance and the tempo (bpm). The tempos are appropriate to the suggested dance and it is all just sweet and beautiful. But sometimes this is not enough, because tangos can also be angry, and cha chas provocative. . .
This is great for practice, and barring a better recording, playing at dancers' requests. I wouldn't schedule a lot of this for black-tie dance parties. Please don't be distressed by the three star rating. I explain the difference between three and four stars in my profile, and you can find links to several dozens albums reviewed there.
