CD ReviewsA dark gem 03/06/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "after eleven:eleven and don't ask, don't tell, come deals with the loss of its rhythm section with a gorgeous, savage little record. the songs are tighter and stronger; chris sings (if sing is the word--it's a tuneful mumble, like someone in the shower one house away); the guitars crunch. high points: 'hurricane' is the highlight of the band's live set--a tour de force, as stunning lyrically as its twists and turns and sudden calm eye are sonically. 'bitten' updates 'yr reign' but rides harder, with trumpets shouting the end--a marvelous piece, beautifully produced. and closing a fine group of eight songs is 'sloe-eyed,' which takes 'german song' and slows it down." One of the finest rock albums of all time Dirk Hugo | Cape Town, South Africa | 03/30/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "Very few bands integrate the musical lineage of erstwhile blues & rock with the geist of contemporary life as effortlessly as Come, and this is probably their finest album. It's a work of simultaneous pounding strength and inner fragility that is rare in any musical genre, let alone the commercial bullring that is "modern rock". Anyone who has contemplated a marriage between the crunch of the powerchord and the pathos of a minor key would do well to check out this masterpiece."
