Nice, but they never finished the series

(3 out of 5 stars)
"This is just one volume of four that BMG put out during a brief period when they revitalized the long-dormant Buddah label group. The other volumes included a second installment of Kama Sutra singles and two volumes of Buddah singles. The series covered the early to mid-60s, encompassing Buddah's wonderful bubblegum hits and the Lovin' Spoonful's effervescent early singles for Kama Sutra.
However, the Buddah group stayed active through the mid-70s, so BMG never really finished the series. That being the case, this volume rates just three stars, and casual listeners would be much better served by the 3-CD 'Buddah Box' (also out-of-print). But, for posterity's sake, here's the track listing:
1 You're My Baby (And Don't You Foret It) (The Vacels)
2 Hey Girl Stop Leading Me On (The Vacels)
3 Do You Believe In Magic (Lovin' Spoonful)
4 On The Road Again (Lovin' Spoonful)
5 Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window (The Vacels)
6 I'm Just A Poor Boy (The Vacels)
7 Splendor In The Grass (The Boys)
8 Every Mornin' (The Boys)
9 You Didn't Have To Be So Nice (Lovin' Spoonful)
10 My Gal (Lovin' Spoonful)
11 My Son (Carmen Taylor)
12 You're Putting Me On (Carmen Taylor)"
