"Connie Brown has a lovely soprano voice that she uses to great effect on this set of traditional songs. The musical backing is simple but effective. There are plenty of classics here including Frosty the snowman, Away in a manger, Silent night, We three kings, Deck the halls, First Noel, It came upon the midnight clear, O Christmas tree, What child is this, God rest ye merry gentlemen and Go tell it on the mountain. There are also some songs that are regarded as classics in Britain including We wish you a merry Christmas, Holly and the ivy, Once in Royal David's city and Ding dong merrily on high. I've come across these songs on American albums but not often. The presence of these and some other songs suggests to me that Connie has spent a lot of time in the UK.For the price quoted, this is a great Christmas album. If you don't want to spend a lot of money on a Christmas album and you enjoy traditional country, this is for you. For Christmas music fans, there are several songs here that don't get recorded very often so it's a useful addition to any collection of Christmas music."
