"I, also, was excited by Corey's first album. It had great sound and musicianship. It Reminded me a lot of SRV, but was also very original.It seemed that Mr. Stevens was scared off by the SRV comparisons/criticisms, because the next two albums moved progressively further away, stylistically. They also became progressively less enjoyable, to me.It's probably tough to follow up as outstanding a debut as "Blue Drops of Rain". This album is a step back towards that original blues sound, and I welcome it. I hope it's a sign of things to come.BTW, I have to agree on "It's Over". Absolutely killer song."

Better, but not Blue Drops

"I fell in love with Corey's music on Blue Drops of Rain, a five star album. Road to Zen, the follow up, was good but a slight down turn. Getaway had a couple of good songs but that was it. Bring on the Blues is better than Getaway but still doesn't reach Road to Zen or Blue Drops of Rain. The reworking of the song Getaway is great, and the highlight of the album. Great guitar tone here. It is much better that the version on the album Getaway and seems to have better recording quality. Triple Jack is also a highlight along with the album's opener. I have to say that Corey spent too much time on slow acoustic tunes which are not my favorite. He still has yet to write a slow blues song that is nearly as cool as It's Over from Blue Drops. A step in the right direction but I hope to see something closer to Blue Drops in the future. A good album, however, and I am glad I bought it."

Stevie ray rip-off??...so what!...he rocks!

"i found a copy of this cd after reading some reviews on amazon.com (by accident)........this corey stevens dude rocks!...

who cares if he is a stevie ray vaughan sound-a-like--(that would be a good thing).....their are not too many blues rock artists that can live up to stevie ray's style..(chris duarte,kenny wayne shepherd,indigenous to name a few)......the world needs more blues/rock artists like this....why not "copy" SRV?...stevie copied "hendrix"...it only makes sense....when somethings this good, why not keep it alive!....if you like SRV,texas blues,blues/rock ----get it!"

"Folks, stop comparing him to SRV and stop saying this is not a very good album! WHO CARES?!? This is great music. I was pumped when I saw this. It's got some killer blues and some good rock songs. This is one of the best albums out right now. Supports musicians like this that are actually playing good music. Not many of them left. Get this record...killer."

"Corey Stevens is one of the most original Bluesmen around right now. He continues to push the envelope on each record. Stevens knows no musical boundaries. Instead of putting out stale old cover songs like most bands these days, the majority of Stevens music is original music he wrote himself. Stevens has more integrity than any of this "new" generation of people trying to play Blues. Corey Stevens has staying power, he's been in the business for many years, and there's a reason for that, because he is a true blue Bluesman, who's music is real. Corey Stevens is keeping the blues BLUE. I stand behind every record he makes because I can recognize true genius, true talent when I hear it. Stevie Ray Vaughan & Corey Stevens are the ONLY white Bluesmen I listen to. I think that says alot that I give them the honor of being in the same category of Bluesmen like Albert King, Buddy Guy, BB King, Freddie King, Robert Johnson, Elmore James, etc. Corey Stevens is every bit as much of a Bluesman as they all are. Stevens lives and breathes the Blues. Don't believe any of the negative reviews you see on here, just buy this record now, and you too will hear this is true! In a 100 years from now Corey Stevens will be remembered as one of the Legends of Blues, he will be talked about in the same sentences mentioning the Kings of the Blues. If you are not yet a fan of Stevens, buy this CD and you will be, and if by chance after that you're somehow not, then my friend you are tone deaf. Corey Stevens is one of the best! Your Blues CD collection is not complete until you have each one of his records in it! This will be one of the best purchases you make!"
