"Finally CONCORD has decided to release this 'Best Of' record from Basie's time with Norman Granz' PABLO label between 1975 and 1983 (Basie's death). It starts with the old standard 'Lester Leaps In' played by Basie's small group. Studio and live performances by the big band with arrangements by Bill Holman, Sammy Nestico, Eric Dixon and Neal Hefti are to follow. This record is a must for every Basie fan. It recollects an era which will never come back. Although Basie's piano playing is partly handicapped by the beginning arthritis in his hands this is still recalling one of the highlight periods of the band."
