"This is an extremely swinging album from 1953-1954. This is one of the finest versions of Basie's New Testament band. The sound is great Hi-Fi mono, and the arrangements are top-notch (by Wilkins, Hefti, Foster, and others). Basie lays down the perfect tempo at the piano and the rest is just magic. One additional note: I think Gus Johnson is the finest drummer to ever play with Basie after Papa Jo Jones. He swings the band here with subtlety and good taste throughout."
Unbelievable!!!
