An aggressively feminist statement

"This album, often referred to as one of the first feminist-themed albums, is perhaps McDonald's most in-your-face work. To this day, he says it still makes him uncomfortable, though he gets many requests for "Sexist Pig." It's not for the faint of heart. "Fantasy," actually written about Glen Campbell's old variety TV show, could be taken as a statement about the treatment of women in American society (which is how I originally understood it to be). Musically this is not even close to being Joe's prettiest album, as he admits. Then again, it is not supposed to be. Note that the songs, although performed by a mostly female band, were composed by a male, which is an important statement in itself."
