CD ReviewsThe first CD in a while where I enjoyed every song! DanD | 03/21/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Yep, those CD's are rare--where no song is left out of your "favorites" category. This one, my friends, is one of the few. You may not have heard much of Craig Morgan--unfortunately, he doesn't get that much airplay--but he's a talented singer/songwriter who deserves quite a bit of attention.Okay, so sometimes he overdoes his military background (a little paragraph on the back of this CD explains how he was a paratrooper and such) but to tell the truth, I like the idea of our soldiers playing and singing country music. Whether you'll let his background be a factor or not, you really should buy this album. Here's why:The songs are great, let me tell ya. The title track (check Clay Walker's "Say No More" album for another version) is quirky and somewhat off-beat, as are "Money"--amen to that!--and "Look At Us". "You Never Know" warns us of what's around the bed--it could be a new beginning/or it could be the end--and "In The Dream" follows two young people growing up, becoming what they've always wanted to be."Every Friday At Five" delivers a tearful note, a father being seperated from his boy by the miles. "Always Be Mine" is also on the teary side, a mournful look at those relationships that are destined to be, but just don't pan out. "What You Do To Me" is a traditional tongue-in-cheek number, while "Where Has My Hometown Gone" has a modern, sleek feel, and provides a good rockin' number (keepin' it country, of course). "God, Family, and Country" is about a small-town man who's life is simple, but who believes in those three things. And my favorite is the single, "Almost Home." It's a moving, engrossing tale of a homeless man lost in the days of old. I love this one.Hell, I love the entire album. Morgan's songwriting (and singing) has matured from his first album. This one is for old fans and new fans alike. Something for the whole country music family, you could say. If you like your country down-home good, with just an edge of radio-friendliness, this is the album for you." A CD Not To Be Left On The Shelf Christopher W. Rolen | East Tennessee | 03/28/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "I'm not ashamed to say that I like Craig Morgan. He may not wear a Stetson or ride in rodeos, but I assure you that he's country. When you hear a Craig Morgan song, you hear a country song. Granted, if your idea of country music is Tim McGraw and Shania Twain, Craig is not for you. But, if you like to kick-back and hear some tug-at-your-heart crooning, look no further. "I Love It", Craig's sophmore attempt (and debut with BBR) is a winner! From the opening title track, the direction of this album is set in stone. The direction? Traditional Country. "In The Dream", a song that describes itself, echos Keith Whitley and Conway Twitty. If listening to a good tear-jerker is your forte, "Almost Home" will fill that void. The song, originally put on hold for George Strait, is Craig's highest charting single to date. With a little promotion, country radio should ebrace "Always Be Mine". The song, which is not your average boy-meets-girl-boy-loses-girl, is probably one of the best written songs on the album. There are no fillers on "I Love It". Any one of these songs could be serviced to radio, with rave reviews close behind. We should all tip our hats to Craig Morgan. There may very well be alot country artists, but few of those artists sing 'country'.
