Synopsis
Amazon.comFresh Cream, the album that introduced this seminal super-blues trio to America, was perhaps a bit too blues-based to do the advance hype ("Clapton is God!") justice. Two of its three best-known tracks, after all, were blues covers. It was Disraeli Gears that turned Cream into a "supergroup." Here they pursue the psychedelic ideals of the era with total abandon (the LP cover art still stands as one of the 1960s' most striking designs), merging these ideals with their take on the blues and adorning the amalgamation with some superb pop craftsmanship. Of the eleven originals here, four--"Tales of Brave Ulysses," "SWLABR," "Strange Brew," and "Sunshine of Your Love"--earned major airplay. This, their excess-free greatest moment, does the Cream legend proud. --Bill Holdship

Allen N. (thenaugles) from SAN ANTONIO, TX Reviewed on 6/9/2007... this is actually an earlier Polydor release circa 1990 Mark L. (MarkL) from WALNUT CREEK, CA Reviewed on 2/17/2007... A classic album. The energy and virtuosity on these tracks is amazing. If you're a Clapton fan and you don't have this disc, get it. Ginger Baker is an amazing musician too, for that matter. CREAM JUST BLOWS ME AWAY Lawrence Pidwinski | Tampa, Fl USA | 12/05/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "DEFINITELY the best album they ever made.Good all the way thru. There are no bare spots to this album. AMAZING" A classic from front to back sean | MA, USA | 05/27/2010 (5 out of 5 stars) "Cream hit it big with "Disraeli Gears" in the late 60's. We got one of their most recognized songs, "Sunshine of Your Love", which is now a classic rock radio staple, as is "Strange Brew". These are my 2 favs off the tracklist. This is a great album for listening to on a rainy day. I agree, it sounds dated but it's Cream! No classic rock collection is complete without this album. I never cared much for "Fresh Cream" and it's the only album I have from them along with a cheap compilation, and it's all I'll ever need."
