Simply marvelous!!

"This is quite literally an awesome rendition of this great oratorio. It has a very alive and inspired sound, but does not have that overdone, pompous quality that so many egotistical conductors inject into so much music. Yes, it sounds like it was recorded in a cathedral; that's certainly no problem, not acoustically, nor when you consider that the subject is "The Creation" after all. I think the negative reviewer below couldn't be more wrong. Grab this while you still can. It's a steal!"

THE BEST CLASSICAL RECORDING EVER MADE

"I have 12 CD prefromances of The Creation, and another dozen or so on LP. This is the best performance of the Creation ever recorded-- it's the best Haydn recording ever made-- it's the best classical recording ever made. von Karajan and Shaw are dull in comparison, and Bernstein (DGG, not sony) is only better in the orchestral transition following the soloist's "let there be light... and there was light"

The recording is very reberberant. Although the recording location is not given, it was clearly done in a cathederal, with all the echos caught on disk, easy to hear at the end of the choruses, when they echo through the church. This is not a problem; it is atmosphere. Bader's brisk tempos help: Bader 101 minunts: von Karajan, a turgid 109 (1969) and even longer in 1982; Bernstein 116, but it dosen't drag, but Bader has even more pep.

The soloists are all that could be asked for, especially the soprano in track 4, but conductor Roland Bader is the star of the show-- he knows that Haydn is fun.

This is a "must have" for anyone who likes classical music the least little bit, and all the more remarkable for it's low price."

"If you're on a really tight budget, you may want to settle for this, otherwise there are the real Creation recordings out there by Karajan, Shaw, Bernstein, just to name a few...Don't settle for this. The chorus is too distant and the recording is sort of a mess."
