"The Crickets, post Buddy Holly had a lot to live up to. Lets face it no group could have survived the loss of such a talent as Holly - whether it was writing some of the best pop songs of the last 50 years, his unique vocal style or his electrifying guitar work. So, yes, post Holly they were never quite as effective a force. Nevertheless in their own right they remain an extremely professional and enjoyable group with a wide range of material and the ability to deliver soft, almost bubble gum rock, as well as beaty rockers. Their own material is strong - Sonny Curtis's My Little Girl is a classic in the Holly mould and they perform some great cover versions of rock classics,Their stand out track remains the 1962 Goffin and King song Please Don't Ever Change - a top ten hit for them in the UK- and a song that's is just waiting for a jeans advertiser to pick up "you're always wearing jeans except on Sundays".This album is great reminder of the way pop groups were before the Beatles came along and changed everything! It's a shame however that their 1970's work on a truly great album, 'Long Way From Lubbock', is not available anywhere. This showed the Crickets moving on from their Holly days and contains their best post Holly work."
