i remember having a cruddy-sounding cassette tape back in the day & treasuring it.even though these recordings are low-fi at best,dont let that scare you off - this is authentic ROCK N ROLL no matter what label you want to place on it, Punk or otherwise.

this is timeless stuff & worthy of your attention"

"This is a reissue of a 1990 compilation featuring 18 tracks recorded live in the studio in '78 and '79 plus alternate versions of the two songs that appeared on Crime's first single. Crime boasted that they were "San Francisco's first and only rock and roll band". While that's certainly arguable, they were, in fact, one of the west coast's (and the nation's) earliest and best punk bands. While the sound quality of the studio rehearsal tapes leaves something to be desired, the performances are great across the board. Tracks 1-11 (from '78) are especially rockin'. Like so many great California bands of this era (Avengers, Dils, Zeros, etc.) Crime only recorded a few singles and no long player. Luckilly, these 22 tracks are again available. Great stuff!"

"This is a flat-out AMAZING collection of studio recordings from "San Fransisco's first and only rock & roll band." Sound quality is pretty fine considering that these are most likely rehearsal room tapes, but then again a sterile studio sound wouldn't have suited these guys anyway. Crime were always outsiders and never really accepted by the so-called "hip" scenesters, and if THAT isn't the ESSENCE of rock and roll I don't know what is!"
