CD ReviewsBlack death metal for the thoughtful and spiritually attuned N. Redman | Evansville, IN United States | 09/04/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "Christendom has always been the "mistress of the arts." "Veil of Remembrance" is yet another exemplar of modern talent infused with deep conviction and age-old inspiration. Heavily triggered blastbeats, lightning-paced guitar and bass riffs, and guttural and screamed vocals, combine for a delightful listen. The lyrics are definitely written by persons who do not speak English as a first language. However, the awkward metaphors and more verbose passages are made up for by the lyrics' pure underlying passion and obvious love, as the Church Fathers said, of "goodness, truth and beauty" (i.e., "... the sweetness of your wine is remedy ... " rings of good sacramental poetry). Also note the reference to Kierkegaard's parable of the king who abdicates his throne for love of the common woman. Pure Scandinavian bliss. Enjoy." Black black christian metal Brent E. Johnson | Naches, WA | 11/18/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "First off to those that say christian metal can't be black, remember, it's just a label of a style. If in your world it can only be singing, or growling actually, about satan and evil you need to expand your horizons. You don't have to like it or listen to it but don't say it can't be done. I'm not slamming, just asking people to think. The album is awesome. And that overused word sticks here. At times it is melodic, even doomy, but at times it's the blackest of metal you've ever had peel your skin off. This is what should be the backdrop for the Orc battles in the LOTR's movies. CR has their influences but really are individual in the genre. And the lyrics are deeply thoughtful and sometimes dark, but always a light of hope shines through. If you like any death/black, doom, winter, whatever, check out these guys. Makes me go whoaaaa. No use a deeper voice. There you go." One of the Best Black Metal albums of the Year. Jason M. Eitemiller | Jessup, MD United States | 08/24/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "I will put this simply if you are a fan of Black/Death Metal and especially if you are a fan of Undecieved era Extol buy this album. I would usually put alot of long winded words, but I will simply say this album is inventive, fresh and never boring and on top of that they are christians which is proof again christian artist can create orginial art with quality."
