Synopsis

Product Description
Much to the delight of Cris Williamson's many fans, this long out-of-print follow-up to The Changer and the Changed is now available on CD. Recorded in 1978 on the Olivia Records label, (the first ever independent women's music label ) and re-released in 2004 on Wolf Moon Records, Strange Paradise includes the haunting title track and the classically beautiful Native Dancer. These are two of the many stunning examples of the brilliance of her work. Her songs stir the heart and soul, leaving you breathless and transformed. There are many facets of Cris Williamson's deep musical and poetic sensibilities displayed here, even including rock-and-roll power tunes like When Anger Takes the Wheel - which features Bonnie Raitt on slide guitar - speaking always of Nature and Spirit and Mystery.

Icon of The Women's Music Movement of the 1970's
Bonnie Brody | Fairbanks, Alaska | 04/18/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Chris Williamson is an icon of the women's music movement of the 1970's. Her voice is deep, resonant and haunting. This is one of her very best albums. I saw her in concert several times with Margie Adams and Holly Near, also leaders of this same movement. Chris' album will not be a disappointment. She is one of the earliest feminists and was an out lesbian, early for her time. Had she come to light as a singer now, she probably would be much for famous as record labels are not as reticent to sign on singers who are out."
