""Dancing in the Fire" is a great release from from Conrad Lant. AKA Cronos from the infamous and legendary band Venom. This CD was released in 1990. This was a couple of years after Venom had fallen apart, not too long after Mantas's departure. Cronos and Abbadon recorded the album, "Calm Before the Storm" in 1986 with 2 guitar players instead of one. After Abbadon, Venom's drummer left, Cronos was the only surviving member. He then went under a new band called Cronos and kept the 2 new guitarists that had replaced Mantas and got a new drummer and recorded the debut album known as "Dancing in the Fire". This CD is pretty different from Venom. Meaning that if you are looking for absolute evil and mayhem, it's not gonna be like "Lady Lust" or "Leave Me In Hell". Is that a bad thing? No. Cronos' debut is full of surprises. When I first heard it, I did'nt think Cronos was capable of melodies, but he is. So many of the songs on this CD are very memorable and will stick in your head. Cronos actually has a singing voice also, and he is quite good in my opinion. He has an original voice. You know who it is when you here him. Some stand-out tracks on this record are, "Dancing in the Fire", From Hell To The Unknown", a 5 minute redo of "At War With Satan, Old Enough To Bleed" and a really great song called, "Vampyr". "Vampyr" sounds like it could have been a Venom song. I think it is the best song on the album. "Dancing in the Fire" is a must-have for all Venom fans. It is also a showing of the great talent that is Cronos. Don't be fooled by the hype. In the past, I have read countless articles about how Venom can't play thier instruments. This is untrue. Just listen to this Cronos album and you will hear that Cronos has a definite grasp on musical ability. Also, why would Venom be credited with starting the genre of Black Metal if they couldn't play? Everyone needs to remember that James Hetfield, Tom Araya, Dave Mustaine, Ishan from Emperor, and the dudes from Mayhem all say they were highly influenced by Venom. Venom was the 1st black, death, thrash, and speed metal band. They influenced countless numbers of legions worlwide to carry the torch of extreme music to the masses. Venom is still going strong after 27 years. So, I think that they can play music very well. Venom rules!"

Pretty Impressive...

"This is a pretty impressive cd, but not as I expected from the Godfather of Black Metal. The cd has more of a mainstream NWOBM sound to it that one of hard driving metal. Overall I am pleased with this cd, a must have for all Cronos fans."
