CD Reviews

From Venom To The Unknown:

(5 out of 5 stars)

"For any Venom fan, this is a very excellent 2 cd set.

This Anthology covers everything that Cronos did while he was away from the band Venom. From 92-95 Conrad Lant took off in a new fresh musical direction. The first album he released was "Dancing in the Fire", which was, a departure from the Venom that freaked everyone out in the early eighties. It was a metal masterpiece, delivering such favorites as "Vampyr", and "I'll Be Back". Then He released "Rock 'N' Roll Disease", and later "Venom". While the second album was new material, "Venom" found the band trying their hands at the Venom classics.

The Fist CD starts out with a Intro tape from the concerts, and starts the music off with a version of "In League with Satan". The highlights n the first disc are "Lost & Found" and "7 Gates Of Hell"

The second disc has some cool new(er) songs like "Sexploitation" and "Midnight Eye" that I have never heard before. These songs are almost what you could call "poppy" but still VERY heavy at the same time. The melodies in these songs remind me of what bands like Avenged Sevenfold are doing these days.

Either way you cut it, "Hell To The Unknown" is definitely worth checking out.

For fans of the first three Venom albums, you might want to listen first to see if its your cup of tea, but if you enjoy Venom as much as I do, this should be a no-brainer purchase."
Metal at it's best

"Whether or not you're into Venom, if you like thrash then there is no excuse for NOT having this album! An excellent cross-section of Chronos solo career, which is very underrated IMO."
A Lot Of Hard To Find Music In One Package

"Having fronted the now legendary band VENOM from 1979 to 1988, Cronos embarked on his solo career and came up with a lot of great tunes. This new CD contains every song from the first 2 albums; "Dancing in the Fire" and "Rock and Roll Disease". Both were released in the early 90's and sadly failed to reach any acclaim. However, both of those albums are very good and should be owned by any VENOM fan. "From Hell To The Unknown" also contains all the re-recorded VENOM songs from the Cronos album "Venom". These are very tight versions of old metal classics with different musicians. Also, as an added bonus, CD 2 closes with a number of demo recordings from the record "Calm Before the Storm". That album was put out in 1987 if I'm not mistaken and was the last VENOM record to feature Cronos on vocals and bass. I would think these are rare demos because this particular era of VENOM is ignored for the most part. The only tracks that are missing from this collection are 3 songs from an as yet unreleased CRONOS album which you can get if you get a copy of the CRONOS album, "Venom" which was released in 1995. As I mentioned previously, all the CRONOS CDs are hard to find. They are also out of print so this 2 CD set will more than satisfy your craving for Cronos. I myself have all of the CRONOS albums so I can wear my spiked wristbands and bullet belt with pride..........can you?MMV"
