Synopsis
Album Description Artboxs self produced second album, CRUSH, blends indie, pop, hip hop, and rock into a sexy, cute, and edgy new sound. From the controversial rap song Oblivion, to the sassy rock of Another Phase, kids everywhere are getting hyped and talking about Artbox. CRUSH made a smashing debutat #12 on the CMJ radio 200 chart. "Artbox is where girls go after they are tired of the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears, Christian Strickland president of 3FM records suggests. Building on their buzz as the hottest new college band in America, Now Youre Mine the last track on Crush was added to rotation at LIVE 105 the modern rock powerhouse based in San Francisco. Riding on their overwhelming response from listeners artbox will set out on a West Coast promotional tour, featuring live gigs as well as numerous in store appearences. Consisting of three 21 year olds from San Francisco Artbox has been making noise ever since childhood friends D-funk (Deric Williams) and Artboy (Timothy Plain) picked up their acoustic guitars and a four track in the fall of 1997. Schoolmate Gunner (Scott Bolton) joined the band shortly after. The band is currently completing videos for the first two singles with director Christian Strickland and finishing the screenplay for their first feature film Surveillance. |
CD ReviewsI love it! Alisha Klass | 11/14/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "The new album "Crush" by Artbox is one of the best albums I've heard in a long time. Anyone who hasn't yet heard it, I strongly recommend you get yourself a copy. You won't want to stop listening to it!" The coolest album ever made Alisha Klass | Van Nuys, CALIFORNIA | 02/01/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "Artbox is probably the best new band I have heard in 10 years. "Oblivion" is definately one of the finest moments in pop history Although the lyrics may scare the hell out of some people I think this shows a great side of of artbox bands personality."
