"I'm not even generally a fan of country, but this album, which I bought after hearing it at a friend's house in 1976, is a masterpiece. Hey; I remember it 31 years later! That says something!"

A classic Crystal album

"This album was the one before We must believe in magic, which included Crystal's major international hit Don't it make my brown eyes blue, but the record label (United Artists) returned to this album for the follow-up to that hit. Such are the mysterious ways in which record companies sometimes operate, but it does mean that country fans are familiar with several songs from this album including I'll do it all over again, Ready for the times to get better, You never miss a real good thing and Right in the palm of your hand, each and every one of them a classic.



Of the other songs, One more time (adapted from the German song Karneval) became a minor country hit. It seems that some country radio stations didn't like the song but it is a beautiful song. Maybe it was too adventurous at the time for country music, but it has a lot more of a country feel to it than some of what passes for country music these days. I also particularly like Come home Daddy and I'm not so far away but the remaining songs (Oh my soul, forgetting 'bout you, Let's do it right) are also excellent.



This is a classic album that every fan of Crystal's music should aspire to own. If you can't find a copy, you may be able to find most or all of the tracks on various compilations."
