"You really can't miss with a Curlew album. They've always got some great weird groove going, and they never miss.Probably more than any other Curlew record, this is George Cartwright's gig. He's the most prominent musical presence here--quite a feat given the huge shadow dual guitarists Chris Cochrane and Davy Williams cast. Plus Samm Bennett on drums and Ann Rupel on e-bass always more than admirably acquit themselves. Still, all but three of the tunes are Cartwright's, and his sax stylings consistently dominate the proceedings, providing aural proof that he's one of THE modern giants on tenor sax, his main ax.What do they sound like? A more coherent and together Captain Beefheart, with still plenty of weirdness. This is probably as good a place as any to start on an amazing sonic journey that will reward all who trek with a pure heart and an open mind."
