Classic Cusco tracks with lousy sound quality

"This is a nice starter disc for those uninitiated with the magical musical journeys recorded by the German keyboard duo known as Cusco. I had never heard "Flying Condor" prior to getting this and it's a certified Cusco classic. I had also not heard the Apurimac III disc (except for the excellent, Native American-influenced "Ghost Dance" - visions of dancing Indians in full head dress immmediately spring to mind when this track plays) and three very fine tracks from that album are reprised here, as well as the highly popular "Montezuma" (remember there was well-known beer company that used that song in their radio ads a few years ago?), and "Tula" from Apurimac II, "Oracle of Delphi" from 2003's "Inner Journeys", and the remainder from various other Cusco albums throughout the past several years. This is basically an updated Greatest Hits that adds the best tracks released since The Best of Cusco CD from 1997. Listening to this album makes me want to buy MORE Cusco!! Great stuff and if you think you don't even like music with the tag, "New Age", just buy this and I think you'll find yourself listening to it quite often. Fans know this very well already.
But now for the negative: the audio quality of most of the tracks on this collection is just awful - I've heard better-sounding MP3's. For some reason, there's a lot of distortion on these remasters, especially on the louder passages, tracks 1, 8 & 9 in particular. Not sure if the problem is with this release only or if the distortion was present on the previous releases with these tracks but if you're an audiophile, you definitely won't be happy with the sound on this disc. My 5-star rating is for the music but the sound quality gets a "1"."
Great New Age music!!!!

"I love the mysterious sounds this group has to offer. Great CD to add to your New Age music collection."
