Synopsis
Album Description Oakland's The Cuts re-invent the searing '70s garage/no-wave aesthetic of bands like Television with driving, fuzzed out rock songs. Messy guitars and drippy keyboards mix with loose vocal harmonies to build 2 Over Ten's perfect crashing sound. |
CD ReviewsThe Cuts can cut it Seyton | Chicaaawgaa! | 09/29/2004 (3 out of 5 stars) "I also saw these guys live opening for the Black Keys, and I think they were actually pretty good. While they only played a couple of tracks, they were very rythymic and powerful, with energy flowing from the whole band. That's what you get with garage rock and definitely what The Cuts are all about. A couple of songs are a bit slow for me, you know bands believe in having an obligatory couple of slow ballad tracks as well, but if you excell in power punk pop, why not just keep at it right? Overall good stuff, they definitely have potential, I recommend you check them out.
But to the reviewer that said they sucked and that no one cheered for them, is a bit of a surprise. It's hard to imagine they have any taste over there then, whereas over here, in the midwest we loved them and wished their set was longer. To each their own I guess." |
