Most bands record two albums in the time it took St. Louis rockers Brookroyal to record its new "Cycles of Life & Sound."

Singer Jack Wiese, joined in the band by Jason Zykan (guitar), Bon Lohman (guitar), Adam Stewart (bass) and David Brown (drums), says "Cycles of Life & Sound" was four years in the making.

"We were constantly writing," Wiese says, though there was actually much more to it than that.

Touring with Godsmack, for example, played its part in delaying the album. But more than that, Brookroyal was busy playing a zigzag game in the music industry trying to get signed. And that took its toll on the band.

"We were getting pulled around from every direction," he says of Brookroyal's long-running efforts to get signed to the big time. Record labels "even set goals and we would meet them and the deal still wouldn't go down. We've been pulled around quite a bit."
