Cymande, Promised Heights is the unreleased back catalogue of Cymande material. The tracks mainly come from Cymande's last LP recorded in 1974, also entitled - Promised Heights, with the exception of "Equatorial Forest," which appears on the album Cymande - Renegades of Funk. The albums Promised Heights and Renegades of Funk comprise Cymande's entire catalogue.

This album features three bonus tracks "Friends," "Our Love (Will Really Get Going)," and Mighty Heavy Load," and two nicely crafted reworks of "Brothers on the Slide," by Ruffy and Tuffy and "Fug" by The Greenskeepers. Cymande was an unique and multi faceted group that created an amazing mixture of funk, jazz, soul, and reggae. Promised Heights shows Cymande at their finest, recording their last LP at Chess Studios. Cymande deserves those "Promised Heights," not previously granted to this group of future funk pioneers. Famously sampled by Biz Markie, The Fugees, EPMD, and De La Soul. Cymande's universal timeless music should be known by music lovers everywhere.
