"Future Perfect" is better

"I am a HUGE fan of Dara (i've seen him spin live regularly all over NYC, even his obscure Techno gig!). However, on "Further" I was a bit disappointed, as i was expecting a smashing followup to "Future Perfect", an album chock-full of hard-hitting jungle that was so driving, rolling, dark, soiled, and heavy that it thickened the very air you breathe. "Further", on the other hand, is a bit lighter and sweeter - less of a heavyweight. And it's less powerful. I would say it's got hints of a classic drum 'n bass vibe as opposed to true jungle (Sorry to classify but i had to describe it for u folks!). I prefer Dara's live sets and his past albums--but this one is no dog either--I still like it and listen to it. If you're comparing Dara to Dara, sure this one isn't a 5 star. But if you're comparing Dara to anyone else---Dara wins every time. (oh, maybe Dieselboy would give him some hard competition, but Dara has less of an ego.)"

"While Dara can stand on his own, he was wise in joining Planet of the Drums (POTD), as AK1200 and Dieselboy have all helped in each others outlook on the future of US D&B. FURTHER adds to the beauty of the US scene. This is a roller!! It starts off nice then hits HARD with 'Twisted City'. Smooth transition to 'Turn it Loose' which throws down some seriousness. Smoothes into 'Vizion' and then after some stomping beats slows down into a blast of bass...'JACKHAMMER' a hardhitting devastating track. 'Galactic Jam' reinvigorates the mix which I might add is close to flawless. DARA shows his ability to keep hard, dirty D&B as energizing as ever. A FURTHER reason to support US D&B."

Not exactly an Improvement but Interesting

"Dara has always been my favorite dj. Dara's From Here To There and Full Circe are in my opinion jungle classics. But this new release upsets me a bit. It starts off with a great track, and also ends with one, but in between there are only a few tunes that can get my head nodding or even grab my ever wondering attention. Songs like Agent Babylon's Desert Planet and Total Science's Squash are examples of where this album fails: boring, monotonous, repetative tracks. But there are some tunes that really impress me. Like Dj Ink's Mirage, a fusion of electro like breaks, sick atmospherics and poisonous bass. Turn it Loose by A-Sides and Randall is another one, with its old school breaks and uptempo bassline, it sounds a bit like the jump up tracks from the earlier nineties (true jungle heads know what i mean). Then there are tracks that almost sound like trance. I get the feel that Dara is trying to appeal to ravers a little too much with some of his selection. On a few of the songs youll hear celestial strings, euphoric vocals, and straight up trance cheese. Maybey its just that im a hardcore drum and bass head, but I dont think the fact that trance is finding its way into drum and bass is a good thing. Well, I hope you could understand me and I hope it was usefull. This is definately a cd worth your fifteen fazouls. But if you've never heard a Dara album before, go get Future Perfect or From Here To There."
