"Dhrupad is the most ancient form of classical Indian singing. It offers an emotional richness and depth of expression that I don't find in the faster-paced, more popular khyal style.
You can't get a better authentic, example of Dhrupad than this recording. The Dagar Brothers have incredible voices and made a major impact on Dhrupad's preservation. I also love the pakawaj drum playing on the second track.
And, what a great value! 60 minutes of music on only two tracks. If you only get one track get the second one (which is more focused and rhythmic).
More: While this is incredible stuff, it ain't dance music. Listen in a quiet room when you're not distracted. It may do incredible things to your head, if you are patient and love improvisational music."
