Great Music for Band Fans

"This is some great music for Band fans. I have played Four Scottish Dances several times, and the Dallas Wind Symphony makes the hard stuff sound easy, especially the woodwind parts. My only complaint is the mikes were a little close to the clarinet section so you can hear the keys clicking. THis is very minor when you consider the overall excellent quality of this recording."

"I'm proud to say I played many of these Arnold versions while a music student at Northwestern by the guy who arranged them, John P. Paynter. In fact, he finished the Tam O'Shanter Overture during my tenure and as a member of band staff, I was one of the copyists for that whimsical piece. I played the Four Scottish Dances more times than I can recall and never got tired of them. Arnold's music is one of those rare examples of orchestral music that sounds better when played by a band. Frankly, I liked Paynter's interpretations of his Arnold transcriptions better than Junkin's, but his will do."
