CD Reviews

Canada is breeding excellent performers.
H. P. GORDON | Mexico City | 05/29/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Despite there are very few people in Canada, many excellent and original singers/musicians are appearing in that country. Damhnait Doyle is no exception to the rule. She sings in a very unique and personal style. I have never found anybody whose style ressembles Damhnait's style. Unfortunately, it seems to me that many excellent artists never become as famous as many others who don't deserve it."
A new voice from Ireland
Anthony Morelli | Montreal, Canada | 01/20/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"WORTH THE MONEY...I LIKE IT! SHADOWS WAKE ME breaks the monotony of pop music. Damhnait (pronounced Dav-en-ayt) hails from Ireland with great talent. At the ripe old age of 16, Miss Doyle's smooth and melodic pipes enrich the dramatic lyrics of all 12 songs. I wouldn't call Damhnait a screamer. She hits most of her notes fairly soft. The song A LIST OF THINGS has been over-played on the radio in 96. This is the only song from the album which has made it to airplay. LAS VEGAS, MYSTERY, SIGNAL HILL AND SHORELINE are all dramatically thrilling or haunting tracks. Damhnait uses her voice to set the mood. For example, SHORELINE is one of those songs which sees a dreary, misty island where she's walking in nothing but a nightie.AS I ROVED OUT is the last track. Damhnait uses olde Irish/English lyrics. I am always amused to hear this song. The other tracks are okay, but not as interesting as the mentioned tracks. I don't know who to compare Miss Doyle. And I won't risk comparing her either. Everyone's tastes in music are different.Take some time to listen to this wonderful CD. I don't think you will be displeased. Listen to it then buy it or not. Did my review help you?"
